What do you do for the Visitors Center?

I work to help increase tourism and business development in Ottawa. I contact both local and non-local businesses and organizations to consider holding their events, meetings or conferences in Ottawa. Also I help to plan events and seminars on various topics aimed at business development.

What brought you to the Ottawa area originally? How long have you lived here?

I am originally from the Ottawa area. When I was young my family moved out of state for a few years before coming back, and after graduating from college I moved back to Ottawa to start my career. Ottawa is the place I have spent the majority of my life, it is home to me.

What is your favorite thing about our community?

That would be Ottawa’s rich history. I have always had an interest in history and looking at old buildings and wondering what their original look and purpose was. Ottawa fascinates me with its history from the famous people from its past to the unique buildings downtown and the magnificent homes that can be found on Ottawa’s east side, west side river fronts and throughout Ottawa.

What famous OTTAWA person would you like to meet?

I would like to meet William Reddick. He came to this county as an immigrant from Ireland and through his ventures in real estate and business accumulated a substantial wealth. William Reddick is a tribute to the American Dream.

What do you enjoy most about working at the Visitors Center?

There are many reasons I enjoy working for the Ottawa Visitors Center; but, I would say that the 2 main reasons would be that it allows me to give something back to the community I call home and increase my knowledge of the local history.
