What do you do for the Visitors Center?

I provide a different view to the visitors visiting Ottawa, especially people looking for adventure. There’s nothing better than canoeing, hiking the river bluffs, riding your bike on the canal -- or my favorite would be jet-skiing for the day. Whatever you’re looking for, I’ll help you find some adventure!

What brought you to Ottawa originally? How long have you lived here?

I was raised here in Ottawa. I lived in the suburbs for a couple of years, and it never seemed to feel like home. I guess I always found my way back to Ottawa, and I’m happy settling here in a place that I’ve always considered to be home.

What is your favorite thing about our community?

My favorite thing about Ottawa is its size. With a population of 19,000, it’s not so small that you’re driving 30 minutes to get to a Wal-Mart, and it’s not so big that traffic jams are embedded into your daily schedule. Since I was raised here, I find it to be the perfect place to raise a family of my own.

What famous Ottawa person would you like to meet?

I know this is going to sound silly, but my famous Ottawa person that I would like to meet would be Bob McGrath from “Sesame Street!” Many of us grew up watching “Sesame Street” on a daily basis, and Bob McGrath was the longest-lasting human character on the show. It’s amazing to have a person so dedicated to educating children through four decades of television be right from our own town.

What do you enjoy most about working at the Visitors Center?

There are many reasons why I enjoy working at the Ottawa Visitors Center, but the one thing that sticks into my mind is the fact that I get to meet so many new people every day. It’s interesting to learn how people make it to town, to hear their travel adventures, and to provide them with the makings to their next travel adventure.
